Gippsland FC coach Anouk Meereboer was named Victoria's female coach of the year at the recent Football Victoria Community Awards night.
The night recognises community heroes for their dedication and contribution to the sport through the season. In her first full season coaching with Gippsland, Meereboer took the under-13/14 girls in their inaugural season competing in the State League Division One.
The girls, under Meereboer's guidance, put in some wonderful performances to finish the season in a credible fourth position, only two points behind the league winners, Berwick.
The girls then travelled to Tasmania in the post season where they competed in the Launceston Tournament and were crowned champions in their division.
In her spare time, Anouk was also involved in her hometown club, Sale United where she coached the under-16 boys and played in the senior ladies team.
"We are all very proud of Anouk," Gippsland FC's 2019 coaching co-ordinator Lee Dastey said.
"The award was thoroughly deserved and no real surprise to us who see the hard work Anouk has put in throughout the year with the girls at Gippsland.
"The girls in our region are really lucky to have someone as inspiring and experienced as Anouk as a coach and role model."
Meereboer has recommitted to the club for the 2020 season, once again taking the reins of the under-13/14 girls side.
