The green carpet was rolled out yesterday at the official launch of the new synthetic green at the Moe Bowls Club.

The new surface, which was completed in April, has already breathed new life into the club according to president Les Stolarik.

"The synthetic green is the future of bowls. It is a beautiful surface ... everybody that has come here to play on this surface has loved it," Stolarik said.

"They've gone away and said 'it plays like a true beautiful green', and that makes us very, very proud. I'm over the moon."

Since the club was formed in 1946, the bulk of its spending has been on annual green-keeping fees, which will be eliminated with the new synthetic greens.

"This has already had an impact already on our bowls here with our additional revenue over this winter period, all events being well-attended from members of our own club and other regions," Stolarik said.

"We ran a 12-week competition here over the winter period and it was very successful."

The club has also this year rebranded to join the pride of lions sporting clubs across Moe.

Member for Eastern Victoria Harriet Shing was on hand at the launch and praised the Moe Bowls Club for its role in the community.

"To the 148 other members of this club, congratulations on all that you do in the community," Ms Shing said.

"You have gone from strength to strength in the work that you've done ... to make sure that you provide a wonderful social element to the bowls.

"You really are the very best of what community has to offer."
