Winter Olympics 2018: The closing ceremony

It was a combination of K-pop, culture, the past and the present when the 2018 Winter Olympics wrapped up in Pyeongchang.

Pyeongchang organisers vowed the Olympic Stadium, would be be "filled with the roar of compliments and the applause of friendship" – and they weren’t wrong.

A giant snow globe bearing the games’ mascots, 400 performers come in holding LED balls in their hands and a thumping EDM soundtrack closed out the ceremony as athletes partied into the fireworks-drenched night.

The presence of US president Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka at the closing ceremony prompted all manner of conspiracy theories.

However a senior White House official said in a statement, speaking on condition of anonymity said: "There was no interaction with the North Korean delegation.”
