MOE and Latrobe Valley racing clubs attracted massive crowds to their Melbourne Cup and Derby day meetings this week.
Tuesday's `Melbourne Cup at Moe' provided just the tonic required for the Moe Racing Club after an unlucky start to the season.
Moe Racing Club CEO, David McKinnon, estimated there was about 6000 patrons on course in what was a terrific day.
``After the disappointment of Moe Cup Day we had a number of the corporate packages transferred to this meeting,'' Mr McKinnon said.
``This assisted us greatly and we also want to thank the wider community for its support in getting behind the club.
``This was only the second Melbourne Cup Day meeting we've hosted and I am sure it will continue to grow.''
It was Ladies Day for the Latrobe Valley Racing Club at Traralgon and more than 4000 people were on course and continued the trend of increased attendances on this day.
The feature event was the Traralgon Classic and it produced the best finish of the day, with the Lee Freedman-prepared Grecian Choice gaining a run in the straight to score.
