YALLOURN proved too strong for Morwell Club winning 102/87 in round two of the Mid Gippsland pennant.
For Yallourn, Alan Grubb won 32/23 against Ian Hilsley and George Lambos demolished Alan Ralls 28/18, while for Morwell Club Phil Wynd won 27/21 over Pidge Burrows and Ian Kirkup defeated Yallourn's new recruit, Paul Williamson 25/21.
At Moe the home side battled against Traralgon and lasted to win 103/96 with two rinks being relatively close and the other two having wins by big margins.
At Trafalgar, the home side surprised Warragul with a solid 103/80 win, while at Longwarry visitors Drouin were too strong winning 109/80.
Yallourn remains undefeated after two round which bodes well for a very competitive season.
Next week the main game is at Traralgon when Morwell Club visits.
These two played off for the pennant last season so another top encounter is expected.
Yallourn is home to Longwarry and will have a big win, Drouin hosts Warragul and will get the points in a close game and Moe hosts Trafalgar and should record a win.
In division two RSL upstaged Neerim, winning 98/95, Morwell easily beat Drouin 109/83, Moe beat Thorpdale comfortably 103/85 and Traralgon got home 102/86 against Garfield after play was delayed for 25 minutes due to a heavy thunderstorm which flooded the green.
Next week unbeaten sides Morwell and Traralgon clash at Morwell.
In division three, Yinnar had a huge win against Trafalgar doubling the score 116/58, Warragul won comfortably over Traralgon 113/82, Morwell Club had a big 108/68 win against Yarragon and Yallourn beat Yallourn North 107/82.
In division four Moe had a narrow 91/87 shot win over Longwarry and Yallourn beat Drouin 98/79.
Boolarra was relegated last season after a winless campaign but this weekend defeated Traralgon 92/91.
Morwell won 101/88 against Warragul.
In division five, Neerim won 67/55 over Traralgon, Garfield thumped Trafalgar 96/42, Yallourn smashed Yallourn North by even more 102/47 and Boolarra, very short of players, was forced to forfeit again, this week to RSL.
In division six, only two games were scheduled and Warragul had a narrow 66/64 win over RSL and Trafalgar Park beat Yinnar, which was also short of players but was able to get substitutes from Traralgon, 73/63.
Thanks were extended to Traralgon for ensuring players got a game.
In division seven, Morwell won narrowly 40/37 against Garfield who also had to borrow players from Longwarry.
Moe beat Morwell Club 50/42 and Thorpdale had to forfeit again, this time to Drouin.
Drouin players have not yet had a game due to two forfeits.
Next Sunday starting at 9.30am atTrafalgar, a selected squad of players will try out for the MGBA side for the group eight round robin which will be at Sale the following Sunday.
The selected players include Greg King, Geoff Cole, Ross Sizeland, Andrew Kent, James Scullin, Jack Shaw, Dave Hodson, Chris Ward, John Leighton, Phil Schofield, Mick Fleming, Phil Wynd, Ian Kirkup, Dennis O'Keefe, Michael Yacoub, Paul Twyerould, Paul Williamson, Darren Martin, Kevin McMahon, Tom Van Vugt, John McCarthy, Steve Dawson, Alex Muirhead and Kevin Lovett.
Last week the quarter and semi finals of the 60 plus pairs were played.
The two winning semi finalists were Ken Scammel/Kevin McMahon and John Leighton/Noel Jensz.
They played off at Trafalgar today.
