Sweet shot at success

TWIN City Archers Gippsland member Samantha Crawford has pulled off her third successive senior grand champion title at the Great Southern Traditional Archery Tournament at the weekend.

Crawford holds the enviable claim of being unbeaten at the annual event.

Ben Brunton from Yarra Valley Archery Park won the junior grand champion category.

The competition featured traditional events including castle clout, battle clout, kings round, the grand hunt and indoor challenge.

Some competitors got into the spirit with traditional clothing.

Twin City Archers Gippsland president Peter Bennett said it was great to see many juniors having a go.

``The numbers were down a little bit but a lot of it is because it (the tournament) has been so successful, a lot of clubs are copying the idea,'' Bennett said.

``But that's fine and we're looking to improve ours next year and bring people back again.''

The club is considering switching the event to a round robin format.
