Season gets serious

02 Jul, 2009 11:27 AM
WITH the business end of the season drawing near six sides are still in the hunt for the hotly contested fifth position

TTU sits inside the five with six wins to date, while Gormandale and Sale City are the next two equal on 20 points.

Last year's preliminary finalists Glengarry lead Rosedale and tenth placed Cowwarr.

Glengarry vs TTU

CONSECUTIVE wins and the return of many key players has ensured Glengarry's season is not done and dusted.

The Magpies host TTU in the match of the round and the game is sure to be a spirited contest with both sides putting plenty on the line in order to get the points.

Neither side will be short of a challenge in the coming month with the draw set to test the credentials of the Magpies and Bombers.

However Matt Adams and Brad Heil won't be looking too far ahead, knowing a win each week will aid their side in snaring the final spot in the five.

Tasting finals last season, Glengarry has hit its straps in past weeks and will be motivated by another chance at September action which should be enough to get them over the line.

Churchill vs Sale City

CHURCHILL broke through for one of its most measured and poised performances of the season.

The Cougars were damaging against the Bombers, especially in the second half.

Churchill will return home to Gaskin Park to take on Sale City.

The Dogs ensured they remained in the hunt for fifth position with a season defining win against Rosedale.

The Dogs have won five matches to date and have one of the most challenging draws in the run home.

Woodside, Heyfield, Gormandale and Boisdale await City after the bye next round.

A win would boost City's confidence ahead of a challenging month, while the Cougars will be eager to snare the points and cement their place in the top three.

In other games this weekend, Woodside take on Gormandale, Stratford face Heyfield and Rosedale encounter Cowwarr.
