Sharks to take a bite out of Rams

05 Nov, 2009 09:42 AM
ROUND five of TDCA promises to be a classic round with two games worthy of an early season final.

One of the matches of the round is between Toongabbie and Ex-Students.

This game could be a semi-final preview.

The clubs are tipped to play a major role in premiership calculations.

Whoever wins this game could be the side that has the front running for premiership honours in March.

The Rams at home will look to Veneman, Nicholls and Lang to combat the explosive Sharks' bowling attack.

Ex-Students will win.

T'gon West v Centrals

LAST year's runners-up, Centrals, need to get going very soon if it is to figure in finals this season.

Centrals have only one win and a draw from four rounds and need to win this game.

More support is needed for Nathan and Dylan Freitag and if this comes then Centrals will get its season going. Traralgon West were poor last week, losing 17 wickets for 160 runs. Captain Andrew McMahon will demand a better performance.

Traralgon West to win.

Raiders v Churchill

THE next important encounter is between neighbours Raiders and Churchill.

The sides have started the year in great form and Churchill sit on top of the ladder undefeated.

Churchill came from nowhere to win a thriller last week and with the likely inclusion of skipper Tim Darby this week the Cobras will be hard to beat.

Raiders has played good cricket and posted some top totals.

Chris Stanlake is in good touch along with captain Jason Macfarlane.

In what promises to be a great clash, Churchill should win and remain on top of the ladder.

Glengarry v CATS

BOTH sides recorded their first wins last week and that's why this game will be a battle.

Glengarry and CATS are rebuilding and were confident they will improve their ladder positions this year.

Glynn Taylor is due and with Ben and Frank Marks as supports Glengarry need a big total.

With Rory Hare and Ben Richardson in good touch, CATS will be sweating on Davin Charleston to hit form.

In a very close tussle at home Glengarry to win.

Rovers v Gormandale

AFTER a three week break reigning premiers Gormandale get back on track against the Rovers at Duncan Cameron Park.

The Tigers will be a bit rusty and won't want to take Rovers lightly. Rovers have had a slow start to the season and will need to play well to trouble the Tigers. With too much firepower Gormandale to win.
