Major project announcement

10 Feb, 2012 11:10 AM
Federal Energy and Resources Minister Martin Ferguson announced today $100 million in federal and state funding for Victoria's first carbon capture and storage project.

The CarbonNet project has been allocated $70 million in federal and $30 million in state funding to perform comprehensive feasibility studies.

The studies will gauge the technology's viability and potential implementation to Latrobe Valley's coal fired power generators.

Mr Ferguson also announced the allocation of a Bass Strait tenement to the Victorian Government, for future potential underwater carbon storage facility.
