LAVALLA Catholic College student Mary-Claire McNulty believes luck played a major role in her incredible ENTER score.

The dux student said she had "absolutely no study plan" when it came down to achieving her ENTER score of 96.85.

"I was just hoping to get over 90 with my ENTER score but didn't expect the score I got at all," Mary-Claire said.

"I just couldn't believe it and it just took so long for it to sink in, I just couldn't take it in...I still don't believe it."

Mary-Claire will vie for a position at Melbourne University where she hopes to complete a degree in psychology.

Lavalla Catholic College Kildare campus director Marco DiCesare, said Mary-Claire's result capped off an impressive year for the college.

"We were very happy with the results this year and very pleased with Mary-Claire achieving her high score," Mr DiCesare said.

"Our statistics show that Lavalla had a significant increase in top scores with a huge number in the top two per cent for the state in their specific subjects," Mr DiCesare said.

He said six students achieved a study score of 45 or more in all their subjects while 21 students scored between 40 and 44.

"We had a healthy contingent of (ENTER) scores in the 70s and 80s and were happy with all our students this year," Mr DiCesare said.

Kurnai College

KURNAI College students did better than expected with their VCE results, according to Gippsland precinct principal Rob Juratowitch.

He said he was initially concerned the school would struggle to compete with its previous year's record breaking results but was pleased with the outcome.

Mr Juratowitch could not reveal the name of the college's dux student but was happy to say they achieved an ENTER result of 92.65.

"It's just a credit to the students for keeping up the high standard and we were pleasantly surprised by the results across the board," Mr Juratowitch said.

"What impressed us was the good solid results achieved will help many of our students who want to get into university."

"The school was outstanding and it wasn't pulled up by a small group students but from a consistent effort from all."

St Paul's Anglican Grammar

THIS year's St Paul's Anglican Grammar School dux went to two students who both achieved an ENTER score of 99.20.

Sarah Bolton and David Koopmans were well rewarded for their efforts during the year and were followed closely by Sarah Simon who was third in the year level with a score of 98.95, and Benjamin Lewis fourth with a score of 98.35.

About 14 per cent of the students achieved more than 95 and 26 per cent scored over 90, according to St Paul's Anglican Grammar principal, Mark Robertson.

He said about 42 per cent of students achieved an ENTER over 80.

"In addition, Sarah Bolton and Blair Scott each gained the perfect study score of 50 out of 50 for English and IT respectively," Mr Robertson said.

He congratulated the class of 2007 for its outstanding contribution across all areas of life at the school and for their commitment to their academic studies.

Trafalgar High School

TRAFALGAR High School dux student Bethany Crane scored an ENTER in the high 90s and intends to take a year off before pursuing tertiary study.

According to Trafalgar High School principal Jane Haustorfer, all students in the year level passed with 20 per cent scoring above 90.

"(This) is exceptionally pleasing and the mix across the other results was also very pleasing and most students should gain access to their tertiary studies of choice," Ms Haustorfer said.

She said she received all the results with "relief and pleasure" as it reflected the dedication and work of her VCE staff and students.
