Bushfire read released

05 Nov, 2009 09:27 AM
A NEW book featuring pictorial spreads and untold tales of both loss and survival from the Black Saturday bushfires has hit bookstore stands.

`Firestorm: Black Saturday's Tragedy' includes stories and photographs from the Churchill, Delburn and Callignee blazes.

All profits from the hard cover book will be donated to individual Country Fire Authority stations for the purchase of more equipment.

``We have had a huge response already,'' Collins Booksellers manager Christine Bird said.

``It is one of those keepsakes about something you hope will never happen again.''

The book was published by the Lilydale and Berwick campuses of the Glenvale School.

``Firestorm was born in concept as a memento book that would help meet the huge public thirst for information on the greatest natural disaster that has ever struck our country,'' the publishers note reads.

The book retails for $49.95 and is available online and from major bookstores.
